The problem

Sections of the ring road degrade badly in the rainy season, cutting travel times, damaging vehicles and restricting access to markets and health facilities.

Objectives

  • Upgrade the existing ring road to an all-weather standard
  • Construct drainage and culverts along vulnerable sections
  • Improve road safety through signage, marking and lighting
  • Reduce travel times between residential areas and the city centre

Project story

The ring road carries a large share of the city's daily movement. When it fails, everything downstream fails with it — traders miss market hours, patients miss appointments, and school attendance drops. This upgrade rebuilds the road surface, installs proper drainage and adds safety infrastructure so the route stays open year-round.
